Who was Michael Ende?
Michael AndreasHelmuth Ende was a Germanwriter of fantasy and children's fiction. He is best known for his epic fantasy The Neverending Story; otherfamousworksinclude Momo and Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer. His works have been translated into more than 40 languages, sold more than 20 million copies, and adapted as motion pictures, stage plays, operas and audio books.
Ende was one of the most popular and famousGermanauthors of the 20th century, mostly due to the enormoussuccess of his children's fiction. He was not strictly a children's writer, however, as he wrotebooks for adults too. Ende claimed, "It is for this child in me, and in all of us, that I tell my stories", and that "[my books are] for any childbetween 80 and 8 years". He oftenexpressedfrustration over beingperceived as a children's writer exclusively, considering that his purpose was to speak of culturalproblems and spiritualwisdom to people of all ages. Michael Ende
Michael Ende was a famous German writer who was born on November 12, in Bavaria. His father was a famous artist but in World War II, his art was pronounced to be sick and twisted. After the big attack on Hamburg, Ende went to Munich.
He developed a love for literature and writing at an early age when he started writing poems and stories. He was very interested in theater and he started working for the Theatre Academy in Munich after which he became a professional actor. He never got an important role or had a big career.
While he was traveling, he began writing. He said he wrote his first novel impulsively, without a plan or an idea, writing was an adventure for him. He experienced the adventures of his characters.
His first book was a success. It was a children's novel "Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver" and it brought him an award for the best children's book in The book "Momo" was also a success and it was written in and he acquired world fame with "NeverEnding Story" in

In den einschlägigen Literaturlexika wird Michael Ende meist als Kinderbuchautor geführt, der als Meister der Phantasiegeschichten gilt. Es gibt wohl kaum ein Kinderzimmer, in dem noch keine Geschichte von ihm vorgelesen wurde oder kein Kinderbuch von ihm im Regal neben Spielsachen und Kuscheltieren zu finden ist. Aber spätestens mit seinen anspruchsvollen und mehrfach preisgekrönten Romanen "Momo" und "Die unendliche Geschichte" war er auf die kindliche und jugendliche Lesergruppe allein nicht mehr festlegbar, sie machten Michael Ende weltweit bekannt und schufen ihm eine begeisterte Lesergemeinde.
Michael Ende wurde am November in Garmisch-Partenkirchen als Sohn des Malers Edgar Ende geboren. Seine Kindheit in München verlebte er im Schatten des Nationalsozialismus, vor allem, da sein Vater als surrealistischer Maler geächtet wurde und Malverbot erhielt.
