Negi began his chess career as a professional player in the year He participated in the Asian Youth Championship which was held in Tehran. He registered for the under 10 division and won the championship. Till date, he has earned three Grand Master titles. In the year , at the Hastings International Chess Competition, he tasted his first success as a Grand Master. His 2nd GM title came from Parsvnath International Open Chess tournament which was held in Delhi.
Negi’s third GM title was a memorable one where he managed to draw the game with chess Grandmaster RuslanSherbakov in Russia. After winning the third Grand Master title he became the youngest Indian Chess Grand Master and till date is the 2nd youngest chess Grand Master in the world. He has also won major chess tournaments like Politiken Cup which was held in Copenhagen in the year and , Philadelphia International Tournament which was organized in the year He was the first runners-up in the World Junior Chess Championship. Parimarjan Negi is a chess player from Delhi. He is the fourth youngest grandmaster in history, who achieved this feat in at the age of He is the second youngest Indian chess player to get grandmaster title, after Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu. Negi has won many Indian and international titles for India, and has remained Indian and Asian champion before. He is a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award in by the Government of India. When he received GM title in , he broke the record of Pentala Harikrishna, the youngest Indian GM till then.
He was born in New Delhi on 9 February Negi won the under 10 division at the Asian Youth Chess Championship in in Tehran, his first major win in the field of sports, and since then he has registered many Indian and international titles to his name. He achieved his first grandmaster norm at the /06 Hastings International Chess Congress, followed by his second norm the same year. Negi replaces Pendyala Harikrishna as India's youngest ever GM.
