Sebastian had half siblings – Wladziu, Vincent and Vanda, from his mother’s first marriage to Stanislas Szczepanowski – a Polish concert guitarist. She was a concert pianist and singer and had travelled Britain and Europe with her husband, on the concert circuit, until he abandoned her. He disappeared one winter, leaving her alone abroad with her small children, and she never heard from him again.
Time went past and she met Cesar in Ostend, Belgium. It was a whirlwind romance and she became pregnant. The baby ( Juliet ) was hidden away in a convent in Belgium until she and Cesar could be married. Seven years after Szczepanowski’s disappearance, he could be and was legally proclaimed dead, making her free to marry Cesar at last. Happily married she then became pregnant with Sebastian. Juliet was brought to Liverpool, but not until after Juliana's father had died.
This was Sebastian’s family. His oldest half brother Wladziu became a concert violinist, Vincent was in the merchant Navy and Vanda and Juliet were talented artists - and they all helped to look after Sebastian.

Ingeniero británico de origen italiano dotado de gran inventiva para el diseño de máquinas eléctricas. Dr Sebastian Ziani de Ferranti was an innovator in the development of electrical engineering, an engineer who led the application of power generation and distribution, and the entrepreneur founder of the Ferranti group of companies. He was born at Bold Street, Liverpool on 9 April where his father, César Ferranti had a photographic art studio.
A career in electrical engineering
Sebastian became interested in electrical engineering whilst still a teenager. His father consulted him on the installation of electric lighting at Bold Street in when Sebastian was Sebastian constructed, and patented, with Sir William Thomson - Lord Kelvin, the Ferranti dynamo at the age of 16, and one year later sold a dynamo for £5 10s. In , this was a significant sum of money.
At the age of 22, he became Chief Engineer of the London Electric Supply Corporation and was deeply involved in the planning, generation and distribution of electricity. The Corporation's Deptford Power Station commenced operation in , meeting the escalating demand for the supply of electrical power in London.
The power station was the first to output electricity at 10, V.
