As Montclair, he&#;s written the three post-World War II novels featuring Sparks and Bainbridge. At the height of World War II, the librarian in charge of the Royal Archive found an innocent-looking box labelled ‘Diary &c. Prince Consort’s notes on the birth of the Royal Children’. He duly packed it off in to Princess Beatrice, then aged 86, so she could decide what to do with it.
