Robert B. Alexander grew up in the East Central part of South Mississippi, an area that is rich in history and storytelling. In between chasing ‘crawdads’ for fish bait and playing little league baseball, he loved the outdoors and exploring the surrounding woods and trails. He was always intrigued by the stories and legends of the lives of the generations before him. Having lived through the turbulent years of the Civil Rights Movement in the Deep South and the integration of public schools, he always sought to understand the feelings and experiences of both sides. One of Robert's hobbies is traveling and learning the various stories about local events--stories that are unnoticed by the majority of tourists. A Passion for Wings: Aviation and the Western Imagination,

(The invention of the aeroplane was both the realization o)

The invention of the aeroplane was both the realization of an age-old human fantasy and a portent of a great new future. This book - a cultural history of the pioneering phase of aviation - tells the story of the ways in which powered flight captured the imagination of writers, artists, and intellectuals and helped to shape new visions of the world. Prize-winning historian Robert Wohl describes the colourful early aeronauts: the brilliant, taciturn Wilbur Wright, who arrived in France to demonstrate his invention to a sceptical audience and soon became their idol; Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian expatriate and dandy who delighted the Parisian public by landing his dirigible in front of his house on the Champs-Elysees; and Louis Bleriot, the first man to fly across the English Channel. He then looks at responses to the development of the flying machine by such writers and artists as H.G. Wells, Emile Driant, Franz Kafka, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Edmond Rostand, F.T. Marinetti, Vasily Kamensky, Kaz

The Romanov Bride: A Novel by Robert Alexander

This is the third book from Robert Alexander, and like the two previous books, it is set during the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. This book follows the paths of two victims of tragedy; Pavel, the worker turned revolutionary assassin, and Ella, sister to the Empress Alexandra and Romanov princess.

Alexander explores the two very different paths taken. For Pavel, the murder of his wife and unborn child leads him to revenge and hatred. At many times, he seems to be acting purely through the direction and orders of others--perhaps that way he doesn't need to explore his conscience. He is almost machine-like in the way that he carries out his duties, but unlike a machine there is a deep rage and hatred the fuels his gruesome actions.

Ella, whose husband is assassinated, doesn't rage against those who killed him--instead she follows a path of love. She truly believes that the Russian people are like good children--obedient and loving but easily led by their emotions and ugly rumors. She makes it her life's mission to reduce the suffering of her adopted homeland and becomes a nun. Her duty is to all the wounded, suffering,
