Moena Maiotui
Moena started dancing at 5 years old. She entered very early into some popular groups : O Tahiti E and Les Grands Ballets de Tahiti. Since she is the female leader of Tumata Robinson’s group Tahiti Ora. Her artistic performances allowed her to promote tahitian dance in international tours bringing her to Japan, Australia, New-Caledonia, France, Europe, Canada, Hawaii and the US. She has created a lot of choreographies for Tahiti Ora with “The Legend of Marukoa” at the Heiva i Tahiti and “Pifa’o or the Malediction” at the Heiva , both shows awarded by the Prize Madeleine Moua in the Hura Tau category. Moena also won the Best Female Dancer Prize at the Heiva i Tahiti

Moena a débuté sa formation à l’âge de 5 ans sous la tutelle de Makau Foster, puis a poursuivi sa formation au Conservatoire avant de devenir élève de Lorenzo Schmidt. En , elle a rejoint les Grands Ballets de Tahiti et à partir de , Moena est devenue chorégraphe et meneuse au sein de Tahiti Ora, la célèbre troupe de Tumata Robinson, avec qui elle a réalisé de nombreuses tournées internationales. En , elle remporte brillamment le prestigieux prix de Meilleure danseuse au Heiva i Tahiti.
Depuis lors, elle anime des workshops dans le monde entier et participe en tant que juge à des compétitions internationales.

&#;Our co-founder and choreographer Tehani is back in New York City, fresh off of her Heiva i Paris win, and we're so excited for her upcoming workshops.
In this very special series, we'll be focusing on expression, emotion, and confidence. If you know your ‘Ori Tahiti steps but feel self-conscious improvising, performing alone, or don’t quite know how to make everything fit together, join us on this journey.
Tehani will share her Heiva ‘i Paris preparation process, progressing step-by-step, with lots of structure and instruction, to help you build confidence in yourself, develop your solo skills, and be more expressive through your dancing.
Meet Our Team
Aloha Kākou/’Ia orana/Kia ora/Talofa! my name is Kellie Villicano. I have been dancing Hawaiian hula since and 'Ori Tahiti since I was taught in Gardena, California from Kumu Hula, Kanani Kalama of Kanani Kalama Hula Studio whose lineage goes back to Puanani Alama in Honolulu, Hawai’i. I have competed twice in E Hula Mau hula competition in Irvine, CA and have performed every year in the annual Ho'olaule'a in Lawndale, CA. I continued my passion for Polynesian dance when I moved to New Mexico in by dancing in another local group, Hawaiian Pride, Rio Rancho. I started Ka Lā Kapu to increase the diversity of Polynesian dancing and knowledge in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I continue to grow in my own education by attending hula and Tahitian workshops by world renown Kumu/Ra'atira, such as Adelina Hinemanea, Tiana Liufau, Mahealani Hirao-Solem, Moena Maiotui and Kuana Torres Kahele as well as staying connected with my kumu hula, Kanani Kalama for guidance and also to keep the lineage of her hula alive. I am excited to teach my knowledge and passion to my haumāna (students) and to share the Aloha with the community.
