Loranne Ausley moved to spine, brain injury rehabilitation center in Georgia, husband says
Former Tallahassee-area state Sen. Loranne Ausley, who was seriously injured in a bicycle accident in Bay County earlier this month, has been moved to a spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation center in Georgia, her husband posted on Facebook Sunday.
Ausley was transferred from the Ascension Sacred Heart Emergency Care and Trauma Center in Panama City to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Bill Hollimon said.
"She is working hard with her therapists and we are hopeful for a complete recovery," he said in the post.
The accident happened during a triathlon, Hollimon previously posted, and Ausley has had surgery on her neck.
"She has a lot of hard work ahead but hard work is good work and she's ready for it," he added in Sunday's post.
"For those who have sent prayers and continue to think of Loranne, our family thanks you. You can send her mail at the following address. We request you send uplifting cards, letters, and notes only; please no gifts or packages."

Leon and Gadsden county voters turned out Tuesday in big numbers for Democratic state Rep. Loranne Ausley of Tallahassee, who now is headed for the Florida Senate.
The Capital region fortified the veteran lawmaker's campaign against Republican challenger Marva Harris Preston for the Senate District 3 seat with a 40,vote buffer. That's according to unofficial results from Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties.
That lead withstood a surge of ballots from the district's eight other counties, where Preston won six by supermajorities of up to 78% of the vote and another with 60%.

By the time all precincts in the county district reported results to the state Division of Elections early Wednesday morning, Ausley's lead was reduced to a little more than 17, votes. Overseas and provisional ballots are to be counted over the next two weeks.

Former Tallahassee-area state lawmaker Loranne Ausley was in a serious bike accident Saturday, according to social media posts from her husband.
In posts on both Facebook and X on Sunday, Bill Hollimon said her accident occurred during a triathlon in north Florida.
After surgery on her neck Sunday morning, she was stable, according to the post, which was published around 6 p.m.
